In 2011 my wife and I took a vacation in Malta. We rented a car and had a wonderful week exploring the island and its neighbour, Gozo.
Mdina is a medieval walled town situated on a hill in the centre of the island and is the old capital of Malta. It is commonly called the "Silent City" and is still confined within its walls, with a population of less than three hundred. It is contiguous with the neighbouring town of Rabat.
This view was captured as we approached the town from the north. It was May and there were poppies everywhere. Our visit to Mdina was certainly one of the highlights of our trip and is highly recommended to anyone visiting the island.
