Charles Bridge, Prague in Winter

Prague is one of my favourite European cities and I have been fortunate to have visited this beautiful city twice. This scene is based on a series of photographs taken from Charles Bridge during my last visit. In creating this winter scene, I have used a considerable amount of artistic licence. As with many of my paintings, I have also made extensive use of golden ratios in various key buildings and lights.
In the background is the floodlit Prague Castle with St. Vitus Cathedral dominating the skyline. Looking west along the bridge are the Lesser Town Towers and the magnificent St. Nicholas Cathedral.
My favourite dog, Oscar, makes another appearance, here seen crossing the bridge with his owner near the statues of Saints Norbert of Xanten, Wenceslas and Sigismund.
I used the image of this painting for one of my Christmas cards.
