About this Painting

Knaresborough is a beautiful, historic market and spa town in North Yorkshire, England and is set on a bluff on the River Nidd.  The railway viaduct over the river is a focal point and is the main subject of this painting, where it is viewed from the castle.

Crossing the viaduct is the Union of South Africa, a classic A4 steam locomotive pulling the Scarborough Spa Express, which ran in July and August 2007.

This painting was selected as a Finalist in International Artist Magazine's Landscape Art Challenge No. 55 and published in Issue 71 February/March 2010.

It was also published as a jigsaw by WH Smiths a few years ago.
